02/08/2008 - The city has completed SW 47 Avenue & SW 49 Terrace. SW 50 Avenue is halfway completed.
11/01/07 - The city has engineered a solution to the 3 remaining intersections (SW 47 Ave, SW 49 Terr & SW 50 Ave). They will now be able to construct the pillars on both sides of the entrances. They have provided us with a completion date of 3 months!
09/25/07 - The city will be constructing the next set of pillars at SW 47th & 50th Avenues next. There is still a utility conflict at SW 49th Ave and we are working with the city on options.
05/26/07 - We were notified by the Engineering Dept. that there are underground utility conflicts (gas/water) in the swales for the pillars at SW 47 Ave, SW 49 Terrace & the west side of SW 50 Ave. We are trying to gain easements from the adjoining property owners so the pillars can be constructed on a small portion of their properties. There are no conflicts at SW 45 Ave and for the pillar on the east side of SW 50 Ave.
04/22/2007 - The city has agreed to construct the pillars even though we are $7275 short. The city will absorb those costs and the group has agreed to apply for a $1500 Broward Beautiful Grant and continue to raise the necessary funds.
01/24/2007 - The association received a $2500 donation from the Stiles Corporation as a gesture of good will since the are redeveloping a number of properties throughout Plantation. Board Member George Lord spoke before council to ask that the city absorb the remaining $7275 that we need to raise to complete the last 2 intersections. Unfortunately, no council member would sponsor a resolution to that effect. At the next council meeting on February 7th, 2007, the Mayor will be updating the status of all brick entryway programs in the city. The association is still actively trying to raise the remainder
12/23/2006 - The association received a $2565 donation from Mr. Katulka who is redeveloping the site in the 4200 Block of Peters Rd.
11/08/2006 - The association received a $2500 donation from GV Signature Homes, the developer of the new homes at SW 49 Ave/Peters Rd
10/07/2006 - The association received verbal commitments for donations totaling $5000 from 2 developers who will be building new projects along Peters Rd. Board member George Lord is actively seeking funding via the City.
07/26/2006 - Board member George Lord spoke on our behalf in regards to the city appropriating $5000 for the pillar on the northeast corner of SW 45 Ave/Peters Rd in the CRA at the council meeting. After a discussion, it was agreed upon by the Council and Mayor to appropriate the money for that pillar.
05/26/2006: Approximately $2355.00 has been raised since our second fundraiser started on 04/16/2006
04/16/2006 - The Brick Pillar Committee distributed 650 flyers to the community
04/06/2006 - The City of Plantation has started construction on the first set of pillars at SW 49th Ave/Peters Rd!!!!!!
07/19/2005 - The association received a letter from the Mayor indicating that the city is going to start construction on the first set of pillars at the SW 49 Avenue entrance. The Mayor also stated that she will continue to work on matching funds through organizations and other sources.
03/01/2005 - On 02/25/2005, the city engineer in charge of our project informed me that the original estimate for our project was wrong. In fact it was reduced!!!!! The new total amount we must raise is $27,000(Total project cost of $55,000 with the city paying half). We have so far raised $5000. The city also agreed to use solar lighting for our pillars. Brian Lewis is spearheading this aspect and is trying to obtain a grant to fund the remainder. In the mean time, anyone who wants a brick, please fill out the below form and send your money in ASAP!!! Your association is still trying to gain donations from the Plantation Junior Woman's Club and the Ft Laud Country Club.

Country Club Estates Neighborhood Rally to add Brick Entryways at our 5 entrance locations off of Peters Rd.
Participate with your neighbors to beautify our neighborhood

The City proposes to construct 2 pillars on each side of the street in the city owned swales. These pillars will be exactly like the ones on W. Broward Blvd. from East Acre Drive to Holly Lane. These are the only entranceway features we can have erected due to the limited space available. The 5 new entryways will give our neighborhood a beautiful and impressive look which we can all be proud of, as well as keeping our property values up.
The pillars will be built utilizing Plantation’s signature "Old Chicago" style bricks topped with cast concrete. There will be carriage lights on the front of the pillars. There will also be the name of the street on each pillar that will be illuminated by a ground level flood light. There will also be attractive landscaping around the base of the pillars.
The total project cost is estimated at $55,000. The City has agreed to share the cost so our estimated participation would be $27,500. We are asking residents to donate $50.00 towards the project. For an additional $15.00 you may have a "Commemorative" brick engraved with your family name, etc. – Please specify the exact wording on the coupon below. (1-2 lines, 30 characters and spaces max. per line, and advise which entrance you want your Commemorative brick placed)
There is no limit to the number of Engraved bricks you may purchase or how much you want to donate

You may mail your check and coupon statement to the below listed address. Please mail out your check within 2 weeks of receipt of this notice.
