SW 50 Ave/Peters Road Linear Park

In 2002, the City of Plantation purchased all the land at SW 50 Ave & Peters Road.  This land runs from SW 50 Ave, west to the Florida Turnpike.  The land continues north, along the Turnpike to where it ends at Sunrise Blvd.

The City of Plantation is presently pursuing a $1 million grant to develop this land into a park and walking trail.  At its completion, you would be able to walk or bicycle from our community all the way to Sunrise Blvd.

05/05/2005 - At  the May 11th City Council meeting, the city will be applying for a $500,000 Department of Transportation Grant to develop this area. 

05/10/2005 - At the monthly meeting, the association voted to form a new park committee to help in the development of the new park.  The members are Brian Lewis and Joseph Mercogliano.

05/14/2005 - At the May 11th, City Council meeting, the council unanimously approved to apply for the $500,000 grant for the new MURT/Park

08/26/2006 - The city has advised that the state of Florida DOT will be earmarking $40,000 in July 2007 for planning and then $460,000 in July 2008 for construction.
